I knoe there is a lot out there about the subject, But does anyone know of a capture card or peripheral that is specifically made to transfer VCR/VHS to DVDr. That is, something that was made just to do that task. Something that someone who has no idea what he/she is doing could transfer their old VHS to the DVD burner on their computer. Kind of like a idiot-proof system.
    I only use FREEWARE
    ------------------------
DVDDecrypter - DVD to DVDR 1:1
DVD Shrink - Encoding / Compression
    Burnatonce - Burn BIN/CUE
    Burn4free - Burn ISO / VIDEO_TS
    VCDEasy - VCD's
    ISObuster - Repair VCDs

  2. A set top DVD burner seems to be the most often recommended device for VHS to DVD conversions.

  3. Trust me make your life simple and get a DVD recorder like the Panasonic E50. Then all you will also need this gadget ( http://www.facetvideo.com/ ) to get rid of macrovision on your VHS tapes to make perfect DVD-R backups of your VHS collection.

  4. I agree with Bob W. I purchased a Panasonic DMR-E80H for my parents as their DVD player, which doubles as the machine the extended family uses to copy our extensive (over 150) VHS tapes to DVD for preservation. I did over 75 DVD-Rs last week. Works great. With a macrovision removal device it should also work for personal use DVD copies of purchased VHS tapes.
