  1. Hey Does anyone know if its possible after ripping a DVD and shrinking it, to write it as a miniDVD with a normal cdwriter. The problem I found was that nero, clonedvd and some other proggies wouldn't want to write it as a DVD. What is logic knowing I don't have a DVDwriter. Is there a way to trick my PC so that it is possible. Or do I need some special software.

  2. I've made some cDVDs with RecordNow Max.

I could use cDVDs for short clips but unfortunately my standalone doesn't play them.

  3. you could do mini-dvd with tmpg dvd author if your project is at max the size of your cd. it works fine, I've done a lot of mini dvd's on cdrw and when I got enough movies to fit on a dvd I take the movies from the cdrw and I do a DVD with several movies on it.

  5. Very few standalones will play miniDVd (or cDVD), my old Afreey does (and so do many of the sampo family) but thats all.. I made em for quite a while but to be honest they arnt worth the hassle. They just dont work half the time. My advice is go buy a DVD burner they are cheap as chips now..n start burning DVD-Rs.miniDVDs were only really a stop gap untill DVD burning became affordable and now it is !

Ive re-encoded some of my miniVDs to DVD format now, but of course the quality aint that great.

I've been making miniDVD's of TV epidodes with DVD2ONE and burning with NERO. Any burning program that supports UDF/ISO will burn a miniDVD. The new Nero 6 even has a template for miniDVD. I have also burned them with NTI CDmaker.

  7. I've made a template for tmpeg so I can put a movie on less than 700MB with quite good quality (I try to make them 620MB so i can put 7 Movie on a dvd, and 1 on a 650 MB cd with the authoring).
I use dvd2avi to make a project and encode it with tmpeg (I use the wizard to find the right tuning). (With divx I only use tmpeg)
