LiteOn DVD-ROM LTD163 Problem

I hear a lot of people like the high speed LiteOn drives but mine gives me problems. It won't read half the discs i put in it. Its especially picky with anime. yet my NEC 1100A burner reads the same discs just fine. anyone else having such problems and know any way to fix it. I have the latest Dell approved firmware by the way.

Maybe it's the region encoding it doesn't like. I know the 163 on my old Dell had a limited amount of region changes before it locked on one. There are region-free hacks for it, just search around on this site.

no the DVDs are region 1 and the drive is set to region 1. well it was, now I've made it region free but it still doesn't want to play them. I doubt I'll ever find an answer to this.
