    Hi mceyedol,

    It is an MPEG (MPEG-2, that is)

    From my expeirence w/ authoring to CDR, they wont author (burn) unless
    there is audio w/ this video.. at least, in NERO, it won't author. And, thats
    all I use.

    If that's your problem, you could introduce a blank audio, and MUX them
    together in bbMPEG as an MPEG-2 (SVCD or DVD) and then burn them in
    side NERO.

    I don't know if you are having any issues, since you didn't say. I'm only
    assuming

    Have a nice day,

  3. Basically I went to a concert and recorded alot of footage, the video clips are m2v's but I wish to re-encode them to mpg's so I can host them on my site. At present one m2v video clip is 150mb, if I re-encoded to mpg's they would be a third of that right?

    Thanks

    hi mceyedol,

    I'm still a little confused w/ what you want to do, and what items you have

    * You have a camcorder ?
    - what the brand/model
    - and you too footage of a "live" concert ?
    - and recorded to miniDV, VHS-C, 8mm or tapes, or memory stick ??
    - saving to mpeg stick using this cam ?

    * final output goal
    - to make vcd, svcd or dvd ?
    - ie, to view on dvd player ?

    * what about sound ?
    - did you record the sound as well ?
    If you recorded the sound, you can MUX it w/ the .M2V file as an SVCD
    or DVD and then burn it to a CDR or DVDR disk.

    The source file you mentioned, 150mb is fine in size. It will fit onto a CDR
    or DVDR (when MUXed properly w/ sound) but if you have a whole bunch
    of these, and they total past the media's size, then you can just split some
    up onto more than one CDR/DVDR disk.

    One note though, if you recorded to an .m2v file via a memory stick by your
    cam, chances are, the quality will be low, from what I've read all over these
    forums. So, that's something to think about. I hope they are in good quality
    though

  5. I'm sorry you misunderstand me.... I don't want to make them onto a DVD as I have burnt them as they are and they authored fine.... all I want to is convert each m2v from the concert (there are 10) them into a smaller more manageable format. This was so I can host just the videos on my site and other people can download them and watch them on there pc. At present I can't host the video files(m2v) on my webspace as I only get 600mb and all 10 files are 1.50 gb, if I converted these files I could probably host all 10 on my webspace no problem.

    Thanks

    P.S. The quality is AMAZING and don't ask how... I don't know lol

  6. You can d/l WM8 encoder at www.microsoft.com and convert to WMV.

    BTW..make sure you have the bands permission to post their concert on your website.

    M2V IS MPEG2 video
    MPG is the SAME video with audio.
    It will not necessarily be smaller.

    If you want it smaller you will have to RE-ENCODE to
    some high compression format (including MPEG2 ).
