Is there generation loss when making a copy of a dvd-r? Since I got the AVT-8710 with all the picture adjustments the quality of my recordings is noticably better. I'm thinking of maybe re-copying some of my earlier dvd-rs through the device.

AVT-8710 Time Base Corrector will not/is not needed.
This thing ? http://www.avtoolbox.com/avt-8710.htm
There will be NO generation loss when making a copy of a dvd-r
IF you do a image of the disk .That is a direct copy of all (vobs/ifo ...etc).
There will be generation loss if you reencode.
To make better DVD's now that you have the TBC you will need the original source file(video)

Do you mean copy with your dvd recorder(I assume this because you are posting in the dvd recorder forum)? Or using your computer?

I'm not quite sure if there is a generation loss. If there is I don't really notice it. However what I am sure of is you will not get a exact copy of your dvd. For whatever reason the tint will not match your original dvd.

There is definitely loss.... You are reading data, loosing data by interpreing them to analog video signal, loosing something during trasport, loosing quality by encoding analog signal back to mpeg2 again. It is not like data copy on computer.
