Dee Vee Dee are for DVD-R
Dee Vee Dee plus are for DVD+R

I use DVD minus R only to salesmen, most of them don't even know what they selling...

About TMPGenc, I prounounce it Tee - mpg (like you say mpeg-2 for example) enc (like the first part of the word encrypt
    Tee - mpeg - Enc
I believe the creator of TMPGenc (Hori Son) must send to VCDhelp (and other sites) a small audio file pronouncing himself his program....

You (as an "expert") should know that DVD-R has about 95%, DVD+R 87% compatibility but my (as a "newbie") discs have 100% compatibility as they are burned with DVD-Rom booktype on Ricoh stuffs, no matter what program I use Nero ISO/UDF, DVD-video, RecordNow, DVDDecrypter, Moviefactory,....
And plus discs can always be burned at the speed they are rated a
The only + in the minus could be some Princo1x for $.70

PS don't makea plus-minus war I just replied to your stupid statement.

As I will never understand how people can talk about the compatibility
of the DVD+R/W when they've never burned a single DVD+R with
a plus burner and they've never put it in a single standalone player.

PS: I wish I was sixteen again as unfortunately I'm twice more than that.

  8. This is an easy one!!! When referring to DVD-Rs, I simply call them "blank discs"...
2 DVD, or not 2 DVD, that is the question.

  9. i usually say dvdr, but to specify i would say MINUS if i was talking to a store clerk looking for blank discs or in that sort of capacity. i always say PLUS R when describing +R discs. however even with my dual format burner i almost EXCLUSIVELY buy -R discs because of their lower cost, greater compatability and better experiences when burning em.

  10. The guy that sells DVD recordable media out where I live pronounces DVD-R as, "oh, that shit." He's a big DVD+R fan. When cdfreaks.com posted their essay on the pros and cons of each format, you'd think he just found missing books of the Bible.

I'm glad you said it. I posted the because anything else would've resulted in my first official yellow card.

I call them DVDR, period. But when I am explaining it to those who do not understand, I use minus just so they know there is a different between '-' and '+'
    I only use FREEWARE
    ------------------------
DVDDecrypter - DVD to DVDR 1:1
DVD Shrink - Encoding / Compression
    Burnatonce - Burn BIN/CUE
    Burn4free - Burn ISO / VIDEO_TS
    VCDEasy - VCD's
    ISObuster - Repair VCDs

Previously, we've had a format war going on, which is better, "+" or "-". now it seems we've got another war going on, "minus" or "dash". whats next?

Just to cast my opinion, i call them MINUS!!!

I am willing to bet it depends on which format you own.

If you have th "-r" format, I'm pretty sure that you DON'T want it called minus.

Actually, I think the alliance calls it dash so it isn't associated with a negative thing
