  1. how much bitrate should i spend in avi file so i can fill my dvdr in 180 minute?

i mean, i have a 3 hours movie and i want to know how much bitrate to encode him so i can insert it to dvdr cd.

  2. Some DVD Authoring progs. don't work with AVI files. Convert to MPG at a VBR max rate of about 3000kb/s (TMPGEnc). This is theoretically correct. And DVD+/-Rs are DVD+/-Rs, not to be confused with cds!

  3. thats what i tried:
i encoded the avi file to mpg using tmpgenc and lower the bitrate to 750 (just to try)
the tmpgenc bar tell it should take me 30% of the disk.

for me its mean that if i will encode the movie in that bitrate i can add 2 more movies.

i encoded the movie and insert it to dvd creator in easy cd & dvd creator 6.

but in that software the bar show me that the movie will take 80% of the disc.

    why is it?

  4. I think that easy DVD creator must re-encode your movie with a set bitrate, which means that there was no point in doing the encode in TMPGEnc. (why did you use a bitrate of 750? that is pretty low. I would suggest at the min. vcd bitrate (1150)).

If you don't want to re-encode the movie again, get software like Ulead DVDWS or Ulead DVD MF2. These both have options so you don't have to re-encode an already compliant movie.

EDIT:: sorry, I saw you only used the 750 bitrate for testing.
