  1. I'm ripping an DVD-movie with Smartripper to my HD, and then converting with FlaskMpeg to MPG.

But what is a better and faster encoder :
Do i have to use bbMpeg or the Panasonic Mpeg-encoder ??
And who has the best quality ?

    Greetings M.

Panasonic and TMPG are supposed to be the best MPEG-1 encoders. Probably the best MPEG-2 encoders are CCE and TMPG. But you know, taste is very subjective.
Speed depends on the settings. At same quality level, Panasonic and TMPG speed is the same. If you want MPEG-2, you should use VBR multipass. Due to the more passes you need with CCE, TMPG and CCE speed are the same as well. If you use CCE CBR or 1passVBR, CCE is very fast.

  3. For mpeg1 I would recommend TMPG because it is
very flexible and has good quality. (>bbmpeg)

For mpeg2 I would say: CCE with vbr-multipass (at least 3)
In my modest opinion CCE is better than TMPG in quality
    and speed in standard settings.

  4. Flesh-G-, TMPGEnc doesn't work with FlaskMPEG unless you frameserve.

With Flask, you should definitely use Panasonic over bbMPEG. It is faster and has better quality.

  6. Use avisinth to frameserve. I have good quality for Mpeg1 with TMPEG, and speed is not so bad.

    Ciao
