  1. dvd-lab is not allowing me to create chapters with a vob file (of my wedding which i have ripped from dvd, with ac3 soundtrack).
I am certain this is because the 'time' of the media is reorted as zero in the assets window.

I believe i need to edit/correct the vob file to get dvd-lab to identify the correct 'time'.

Does anybody know how to do this?

  2. DVD-Lab will not allow you to create new chapter points while the file is still a VOB. All that information already exists in the current structure and DVD-Lab will not override the VOB.

If you want chapters to be different, you'll have to demux the VOB into elementary streams, then add the chapters to the .m2v file and reauthor that way.

Version 1.1 allows this, at least on my computer.

although the caveat here is this: I am not using the raw .vob files, but rather .vob files created with ChopperXP, where I have cut out the scenes I wanted and saved them as clip01.vob, clip02.vob, etc, not as VTS_1_01.VOB, VTS_1_02.VOB, etc.

when I import the vobs (not demuxed) and place them in a movie, it treats them like any other mpeg. I don't know if ChopperXP strips out the original chapter points or not, I haven't really checked.

But if that's the case, you could use ChopperXP to process your vob files - open it up, set your mark in and mark out at the beginning and end of your vobs (so you aren't chopping anything) and "save as" a new file name (a full 1Gb vob takes about 1 minute to process, so it's pretty quick).

Then try importing your new vob, non-demuxed, and see if it allows you to set chapter points.

  4. I've used DVDShrink to rip most of hte stuff I reauthor, so maybe chopper XP does something a little different. I'll have to check it out.

  5. Thanks for your help so far guys.

Ive succesffuly managed to add chapter pionts in dvd-lab using other imported vob files, so I know that the application can do this.

However, these with these other vob files I use, dvd-lab display their 'time' in the assets window. Not with the vob file im using however.

As suggested, ive tried to use chopper XP and cut/extract the vob, but chopper xp just crashes and dissapears.

Im wondering if i can edit the header of the vob (may be using vobedit) to get dvd-lab to recognise its time length correctly. Is this possible?

For now ill try using dvdShrink.

Thanks in advance for all your help.
