    Hello,

I am trying to convert a 24 GB Motion JPEG movie wich I recorded with my miroDC30 into DVD format. The process starts and after about 1 GB of conversion it stops and I get the error message below. I am using a registered version ffmpegX 0.0.7c, today I tried to download version 0.0.7d but after the download finishes the dmg-file shows always version 0.0.7c.

However, unfortunately I have know clue why ffmpegX does not finish the conversion though it does start as usual.

I am using the hi-bitrate DVD (Pal) preset in ffmpegX and chose to process as VIDEO_TS, no elementary streams.

Any hints are very much appreciated.

    Best regards
    Alexander

I tried the conversion again today, as explained above ffmpegX starts the job as it should but crashes after a while. At the stage it crashes I have always a *.m2v file about 1 to 1,5 GB in size and a *.mp2 file with 0K.

Below is todays output from the terminal as well as the latest crash logs.

    Again thanks for any hints.

  3. Try to add a proper .mov extension to your source movie before encoding it, ie /Volumes/fette_beute/Noorderlingen.mov instead of /Volumes/fette_beute/Noorderlingen.

    Hello,

I added the extension .mov to the file and tried with and without capital letter at the beginning of Noorderlingen.mov and noorderlingen.mov. Now I do get a mencoder crash as soon as I press the open butten in ffmpegX:

  5. This is quite strange, I never had such a report before. Try to input the movie path by typing it manually in the "Open.." field and launch encode to DVD.

Well, after the crash of mencoder in the console ffmpegX did show the right path in the window. I just quit the console and started the conversion, which is currently still running, although the terminal does not show the usual output (the line with the number of frames is missing, see terminal output below). However, currently are about 550 MB converted and it is still running, I wait and see what is happening when we are in the 1 GB range again. I might not be able to leave it converting until it finishes today since my 450 MHz G4 might be to slow. It resides in my sleeping room and is to noisy to leave it running through the night. I let it start again tomorrow early morning though. But today I will see how far it goes.

    Thanks for the hint anyway.

    Alexander

Terminal output does not show the typical line with frame#

Just to show you what is happening, I post the concole log and the mencoder crash log again. The console crashes exactly each time I do this:

I press the open button and the file dialogue appears. I navigate to the volume where the file is located. As soon as I select the the renamed file noorderlinge.mov and press choose I do get the console error.

However, I will now try to start the conversion again and let you know what happens tonight.

    Regards
    Alexander

With ffmpegX 0.0.8 the conversion is now working without any errors but is pretty slow although I upgraded my original G4/450 Sawtooth with a Sonnet 800 MHz. Might be due to the large original MJPEG file with 23 GB.

    Best regards
    Alexander
