  1. OK...maybe this is basic, but how do I TELL ATI AIW MMC 8.1 WHICH codec to use? I think the codec I am capturing with is causing troubles as I cannot even open these files with TEMPGENC.

    Thanks!

  2. Go to Setup in Tv Aplication -> Digital VCR tab -> Set Custom
Then you either can use any MPEG codec or AVI codec. To change the AVI codec click on any AVI preset, click Next, and choose the right codec under "Select the video codec to use".

Different AVI codec sometimes do not work correctly in MMC.

  3. There is no SET CUSTOM button.

Under PERSONAL VIDEO RECORDER there are:

    MAP PRESET
    RESTORE DEFAULT
    DISK SPACE
    ONE TOUCH RECORD

I don't see a SET CUSTOM option when creating recording presets either.

    version 8.1 MMC

Does this version not support this?

  4. I am sorry, I did not notice I had different version.
If you have manual for MMC, the solution is found on page 41.

  5. Thank you for the time you've taken, but as I said in my last post --

I don't see a SET CUSTOM option when creating recording presets either

unless I am looking through something.... I see a lot of other settings but no SET CUSTOM button or any other setting in PVR preset creations (or editing) where one might alter the codec.

  6. Are you looking in Map Preset ? (You have Map Preset on the list of what you see and it says so in the page)

Click the Map Preset... button. It will open a new window. Then click the Create New... button. The wizard is very easy to use. If you need more detailed instructions you can visit Lord Smurf's website for step by step instructions.

  8. I'll look again...that's where I am. I only get some standard choices in the MAP PRESET (ie: ATI VCR, MPEG; AVI; Windows Media; Motion Triggered)

I set up Lord Smurfs TV SHOW Capture as a preset and will pour through his guides again to see if I find a codec change setting.

    Thanks,
    Kev

When you get to this screen, click the Configure button next to Select the video codec to use. From there you can select what codec to use.
