It is pretty damn easy to make a VCD with TMPGEnc. Just load the template for vcd, select the audio and video input, and select the encoding quality that you want. Hit start. Only four clicks.

use the avi template. AVI to VCD,CVD,SVCD, and DVD.

  4. If the movie is less than 80mins long (or can be cut into pieces less than 80 mins long) then Nero will do it for you. Only problem, its encoder is pretty poor and you can get MUCH better results using other, but more complicated, methods.

  5. This question is also asked about making DVDs. Here's the bottomline, the all in one packages (and several do exist) normally do a crappy job with at least one (if not all) of the steps necessary in the process.

You need to take you source: encode to MPEG1, author and burn. Nero can do all of this. But it's encoding sucks. TMPGenc only encodes no authoring or burning. VCDEasy can author/burn, but can not encode. VCDImager can only author. etc. etc.

The right tool for the job.
