  1. Hey guys,

I bought a sony dru-510a and am running it on winxp and and having some problems. I'm using smartripper and when I try and rip something I don't get more than a 0.4x speed. Also, my nero burning rom doesn't recognize the burner as a recorder. It had no problems recognizing the cd-rw that used to be in the same bay that the dvd burner is in now.

I read through all the forums and tried to troubleshoot it as much as i could. I installed force aspi and have aspi 4.60 on my xp. Before I ran force I was getting a max rip rate of .01x, so it seems to have gone up a little bit, but not quite sure why it's only at .04x and why my nero isn't recognizing it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  2. First of all...what version of Nero are you running?? Have you updated the firmware to 1.0c? I know early versions of 5.5.x.x don't recognize certain dvd burners. If you are before 5.5.10.20, go to Nero's website and d/l an upgrade....hope this helps.

  3. I believe it's 5.5.9.x

As far as the firmware goes, I don't know what that is or how to upgrade it. I read that it's necessary for certain burners but I didn't think I needed to upgrade the firmware since my burner was a 4x speed burner.

Please let me know where/how I can upgrade the firmware and if I really do need to. Thanks!

  5. You still probably need to upgrade your Nero to 5.5.10.20 or higher. That would probably explain why nero won't recognize your recorder. Esp if you have a 5.5.9.x. The firmware will probably not help that problem. Let me know how it turns out and good luck!
