  1. I am admittedly a newby to dvd recording, although somewhat advanced computer user. I have had the pleasure of testing out many different software titles out there for recording movies. These include dvd x copy and dvd x copy express, dvd2one, dvdshrink, anydvd, nero, clone dvd and dvd cloner and many many more.

My requirements are for a fairly simple and quick copy of a movie that retains most of the quality of the original. Further, I need to delete out extras. This latter requirement is largely because I like a movie to start instantly once put in the dvd tray. I don't need or want the filler, the added space savings is just icing.

Here are my conclusions. Since I like to strip out extra's, I use dvdshrink. The options, speed, and price make this an unbelievable winner. I run anydvd in the background to decrypt and debug anything that dvdshrink cant handle. Finally, I burn the movie files created by dvdshrink with the latest release of clonedvd. All of these titles are AOL easy to use, and I have found this to be one of the quickest/easiest/high quality ways to ensure a good back-up.

Nero is great software, but it is not without limitation, complication, and coaster formation. For some reason, I am not able to consistently burn dvds without coaster formation. Besides, does anyone really know what 'joliet' means. The menus are somewhat cryptic and the process inconsistent. CloneDvd is a simple way to burn movies.

Dvdxcopy express is great for the real newby, offering true one button duplication, but this ease precludes the ability to strip out the extra junk. My triple combo of anydvd in background, dvdshrink transcode/shrink and clonedvd seems to be the best for my needs.

Anyone else using this combo as their duplication method of choice? What other methods offer this kind of punch?

  2. AnyDVD 1.4.4.1
    Dvd2one 1.2.3
    CopyToDVD 2.2.6.191

Open Dvd2one, point it at the VIDEO_TS directory of the original DVD and tick the "Burn with CopyToDVD" option and choose your options.. i.e. Movie Only/Full Disk etc..

Using 4 X media (Riteks) ..... it takes me approx 30-45 mins from putting in the original , to collecting the burnt copy.

    Note : <6gb Full Disk. > 6gb Movie only
