  1. I have just purchased a Nec 1300a dual writter. When I make a +R dvd my 2 home dvd players with not see the dvd. This is not a simple one to figure because I know that both of my DVD players will read both + and -. I know this because my first dvd writter was a HP 200E that would only write +R and these worked fine. My 2nd writter was a Sony dual format. this wrote both + and -, but for some reason the +R would not work but the -R would. I returned this one because I thought that the Sony was just not writting the +R correctly. My 3rd was a NEC 1100a which only writes +R. This one would fine and both DVD players could read it. A friend made an offer so I sold it. Now I have the NEC 1300a dual writter and the +R are now showing in my 2 dvd players. This stricks me as odd due to the fact that the last 2 writters I had were NEC and the +R only worked fine but the +R on the dual format did not.
The media on all 4 are the same. I purchased from Best Buy a 100 pack of the TDK 4X dvd+Rs.
    Can anyone help???????

  2. Did you put all the DVD files into a "VIDEO_TS" folder then burn that folder? Did you finalize the DVDR? Not doing anyone of these will make the DVDR usless in most stand alone DVD playeras.

  3. The problem is the bitsetting/book type. The HP and NEC ND-1100 write DVD+R as DVD-ROM book type which give a somewhat better compatibility than the standard DVD+R book type the Sony and NEC ND-1300 use, especially with DVD players from manufacturers that "dislike" the + format (eg. Panasonic, Toshiba).

There is no dual format DVD writer available now that can burn DVD+R as DVD-ROM book type.

    I somewhat disagree with:

as I got NEC 1300A and +RW disks I burned WORK FINE on my Panasonic RV-32. I used Nero Express 5.5.10.xx the drive came with and then updated it to 5.5.10.50 and it still works fine. I didn't change default config/settings in Nero.

  5. Not all Panasonic models have problems with playing DVD+R/RW but the general compatibility with DVD+R/RW (with DVD+R/RW book type) and Panasonic DVD players are worse than with most other brands and I don't think it's a coincidence...
