  1. As a newcomer to this delightful pastime I have tried with only moderate success to convert AVI movies to DVD.

I use TMPeg 2.5(+) to convert into elemental video and audio streams. I then use DVD Lab to compile and author. When this works it works very well producing quality video and audio. As a newcomer I am not entirly sure what formats I am creating except DVD Lab tells me it went well. I can test the compilation before burning and enjoy the finished product on my TV DVD player.

However, sometines I have an AVI (ofter old ones like early 60 or 70 James Bond) that will not convert. Sometimes even though the file reports a 700 megs I cannot hear the audio.

I know enough to demux it and using Goldwave 5.5 I make aWAV file of the audio and then re multiplex it. This works well on one of my computer video player like WINDVD, but when I author it with DVD Lab the resulting DVD only plays a broken audio or intermitent audio on the TV DVD.

I have used GSpot 2.2 and learn that some of these older audio codecs are of WMA format whatever that is??. I also know to ensure that I convert the audio to 48 mhz.

However, I am missing something in the conversion to a DVD compatable audio format.

Can somebody help or point me to the right literature or "readme" to learn more.

    Mamy Thanks

  3. Binks,

Thanks for the tip. Do you have a URL for "Mainconcept"

I downloaded BeSweet, AacMachine and AC3machine. They are not easy to understand I am still trying to find out how to convert an extracted WAV file to AC3.

However, from your comment it is clearit that is is possible tro convert a WAV file to AC3. I must be doing somthing wrong.

One problem I have is that AC3 looks for the BeSweet .exe, but the version of Besweet I down loasded is BeSweet GUI.6b61.exe. Does this matter?
