  1. I have an apex 1500 and whenever I play any of the discs I've made off of my panasonic e80 I will always get the occassional 1-2 second slow motioning of a few scenes here and there. This doesn't happen in my dvd-rom just on the apex. Is there a better cheap player out there that can handle panasonic made dvdrs?

  2. You didn't specify dvd recorder.

Problem can be that you are using bittrate that is too high. That is my experience with recorder Pan DBR-30 and player Mintek 2580. When recorded in XP mode 1h15min to whole disc it had problem reading it on the end. When using SP mode, it worked fine.

  3. I've edited my post so I'm a bit more clear now about the machine I use. I guess that's very possible that the bitrate setting is too high but I don't use XP mode that often. Most of the time I use FR mode and it still does it, and as far as I can tell the apex I have can handle pretty high bitrate settings.

  4. I can play discs recorded from Panasonic DMR-E50 in the following without a hicup

    Panasonic RP82
    Panasonic RV31
    Pioneer DV-333

I also have the Pioneer DV-414 and this player plays the discs fine but if I try to ffwd or rewind it might freeze up or jitter and it hates Memorex discs :P

  5. I use my Panasonic A110 and up until it died last weekend, my Oritron 100 to playback +R discs recorded on my Philips DVDR75 and my NEC 1300 (+/-R).

    All played flawlessly.

Pioneer is my choice, i have 3 players i bought 2 of them back before dvdr's were even a thought to the mian stream and they play every format recorded with any program that i have thrown into them, even with the dvdr's made with programs that would not play on other dvd players.
Wlamart even has a couple that are under $100.00, of course they don't have hacks like the apex's to play imports but if that is not a concern then pioneer's have never let me down.

    Pioneer DVD/CD/MP3 Player DV-250

Pioneer Progressive Scan DVD/CD/MP3 Player DV-260

Although i am thinking of picking up a cyberhome from target to see how they handle all the diff. formats and they also will play multi region & pal dvd's

Yep, i have a GE 1101PB that i updated the firmware so i could play import dvd's, except i have some that are widescreen and i can't get them to play widescreen no matter how i set the options!!

Also i had some dvd+r disc's i recorded with an older version of nero and they would not play in the GE but they played perfect in my pioneer's, even my DVD/LD combo player. had the same problem with a friends apex.

My sampo took a dive so i have to check out some other cheap players that will convert, and i hate apex's
