Ive converted many vcd's through tmpgenc but after i reinstalled windows i now cant as i get an error on every one, even the ones i had done before. it is saying that it is unsupported or cant open.

Ive tried AviMedic and AviCodec, both saying that they are not damaged and that they are supported. Ive changed the priority settings within tmpgenc like the help tells you too and have tried installing PowerDvd like another forum subject says too do, but i am still getting this error.

It is so annoying as it worked before, i also tried installing the newest version of tmpgenc. I would be so glad if anyone could help.

    Cheers!

  2. I don't know if this has anything to do with it but do you have the MPG2 codec?

Im not very experienced with Codecs, so im not sure, where would i found out?

I downloaded MPEG 4 codec as that is the one AviCodec told me to use. I can play the films on DivX player but only the Audio on Media Player for some strange reason as before they did play.

    Cheers for your help

If you're only creating vcd's then a mpeg2 codec is neither use nor ornament (as we say in Yorkshire, UK).
I'm amazed the priority change setting didn't help. Back when I was creating vcd's this was the bane of my life.
    Try upping it again.
Isn't there something you have to install first though?
Some bloody 'vfapi' or some such named thing?
    Let me do some digging.

I dug, and found these at the www.tmpgenc.net site

To find out what codec your AVI files were compressed to you can use a Little Program called "G-Spot", it will tell you what audio and Video codecs you files use...To get rid of your "Can Not Open Or Unsupported" error you should try this..Go to "options" to "enviromental Settings" to "Vfapi Plugins" and Raise the priority of the "Direct Show File Reader" to "2", this should get your file loaded...Another thing you should know is that downloaded movies are the worst files to try to make (S)VCD"s or DVD"s out of cuz Downloaded files usually use Wierd Resolutions and Non-Standard Frame rates and Audio formats, Plus they have a tendance to be corrupted or have corrupted frames in them which makes them difficult if not impossible at times to make Proper Mpeg files out of them
Mp43 is Not a Nero codec it is Just the Microsoft Mpeg-4 version 3 Codec,if you install the FFDshow Decoder then you should be able to decode this File..
Have you Tried Raiseing the priority of the Direct show file reader in the Vfapi Plugins????
Not sure if that helped, but good luck
