can DVDXCopy Express be used strictly to burn?

I tried to backup my copy of "THE UNTOUCHABLES" with DVDXCopy Express but ran into a title set error issue.

I resorted to using DVD Shrink to create a VIDEO_TS folder with all required VOBs. It did not create an AUDIO_TS folder though (the original DVD did not have one either).

I tried to copy the VIDEO_TS folder to a blank DVD using HP Record Now (that came bundled with my HP DVD200e) but it would not play in my DVD player.

After reading some of the guides on this site, I figured that HP Record Now did not record in the required "DVD Video" mode or "ISO/UDF" mode. According to the guide, Nero should be used for this, which is not free.

Being that I can't find any free burning S/W, is it possible to use the burning engine of DVDXCopy (in essence fooling it to think it is actually copying a disc in the DVD drive) to burn the disc?

DVD Srink only crates the DVD complient files that you have to place inside a DUMMY VIDEO_TS folder. You can also create a DUMMY AUDIO _ TS FOLDER that sometimes is required for it to play even on power dvd on your pc. Don't ask me why!!! You will need a Burning software that can burn in DVD/Movie mode. Nero will cost you some $$ but it is pretty good. I use it for all my DVD burns. Now NERO will create the required folders automaticaly when you choose DVD/Movie mode. You then paste, drag or whatever, the FILES ( Only the FILES ) the DVD Shrink produced into the VIDEO_TS folder the NERO created and click burn. Make sure you have chosen the correct burner if yoou have more than 1. Use the lates version of DVD Shrink which I believe is 3 Beta 5. I have had great results with and you can't beat the FREE price tag!
