newbie in need of help (dvd shrink and nero)

hey guys i just got a dvd burner and i used dvd shrink to shrink equlibrium. i made its own folder and sent the files in there. i got alot of files (.bup .ifo etc) so i tried to burn it with nero express. i clicked on dvd0video button and added all the files to the dvd. i clicked on burn and it started and it said burn process failed in the first ten seconds. so nothing was written to the dvd-r. i tried several times and the same thing happened. what am i doing wrong or what can i do thanx alot.

What disks are you using? I remember my first DVD burner. I tried to burn a DVD to the disk that came with it. I had the same fail you did changed to a DVD-R disk I had bought. It worked. It turned out the disk that came with the burner was a DVD-ROM disk.

I use Nero Express exclusively to burn all my DVDShrink files, and have never had a problem. You did not mention what type/brand of DVD burner you are using or what brand media it was that came with your drive.

There may be a firmware update for the burner. Or, you may have have the burner set to slave, when it should be a master. Or, the transfer mode in your PC may be set to PIO instead of DMA.

i was using the one it came with. lol. what burner did u get when this happened. i have a pine dvd -/+ rw. so it should work if i buy some new ones. and everything i did was correct?

You might want to try some +/- RW media. That way if you get a bad burn, you can erase the media and start again. Nero express gives you a quick erase option with RW media.

My friend also had this problem with Nero Express. Try using the regular Nero (instead of the Express). It worked for her. Good luck.
