  1. I heard that you can improve vcd quality by doing a number of things in like uhh you can change the ratio to 4:3 525 line (702x480) or goto the advanced settings and change the very bottom option to best quality/slowest (where is this setting?) do these ways work?

    If you change the framesize to something non-standard, you will be making a non-standard/non-compliant disc -- or an XVCD. This may or may not work properly depending on your player.

    Increasing the framesize can yield better quality video assuming that you use an appropriate bitrate.

    Changing the motion search precision on TMPGEnc will lead to better quality video (or on the other hand, using a faster one will lead to worse quality video), but there is little perceptable quality difference between the highest quality setting and the next one. Most people recommend that you use the second slowest setting for optimal quality.
