I've been having a strange burning problem that I only noticed recently involving Nero 6. I've burned a few DVD discs with Nero using non-image files (i.e. the bups, ifos, and vobs generated from other software), in which I've specified DVD-Video. The burn appears to work correctly (Nero reports no errors) and I don't seem to have any problems when I play my DVDs in a DVD player. But I noticed that PowerDVD (a software-based player) was performing erracticly when reading some of the discs. I ran DVDInfo's "Test your media for read errors" with a few of the discs and sure enough, there were read errors on many discs (multiples of 16 read errors per disc, though mostly exactly 16 read errors per disc). Originally, I suspected that the media itself was defective, but I did a read error scan on some discs which I created using ImgTool and DVDDecrypter. I tested every disc I burned and the results were pretty overwhelming:
1. Every disc burned with Nero contained read errors.
2. Every disc burned with DVDDecrypter was free of read errors.
This is very aggravating because I spent a lot of time working on a family vacation DVD and I burned 2 copies to DVD (one to serve as a backup in case the other one became damaged) and it wasn't until after I deleted the material from my hard drive that this Nero defect was brought to my attention (to be honest, it just never crossed my mind that the burning software would be the culprit of a bad burn -- I always assumed defective discs or hardware failure would lead to errors, which would also be reported by the burning application). Fortunately, the DVD plays in my DVD Player w/o problem (as far as I can tell, though I remain suspiciously on the look out), but I'd rather not take the chance in the future.
Has anybody else had this problem? I scanned through one of the Nero guides on this web site and the only difference I could find was that in my Nero, Joliet was selected during all of my burns, whereas the guide prefers to have Joliet disabled. It wasn't a conscious decision on my part to have Joliet enabled, I just left the default settings in place. I would still prefer to use Nero, but until I can find a solution to this defect, I'll have to use Imgtool and DVDDecrypter.

I have had this problem with my Pioneer A05, but ONLY when I'm using the "hacked" firmware to burn 1x discs at 2x. I have since gone back to burning them at 1x (and promptly bought 4x media (ritek)).
Try burning them again at 1x and that may solve your problems.
