I will soon buy a DVD recorder (probably one of the new Panasonics with the hard drive). I plan on copying my VHS to DVD as well as making copies of my DVD's. Especially my kids DVD's so they won't destroy the originals.
I have read the archives. And I know that copying is prevented by anti copying devices in the VHS and DVD's. I also know that many have found ways around these issues. Some through computers and software use and some with just the stand alone recorders. I am more intereted in the stand alone ways.
Many have used hacked DVD players as the source for DVD copies. Some have used boxes with similar results. One that was mentioned was the AVT-8710 (or CTB 100). I never read a post where someone indicated it didn't work. With most of the other boxes at least someone or several people would say that it didn't work.
Has anyone used the AVT-8710? Does it work with all media? Does it work with the new Panasonic DVD recorders with hard drives?

I own the AVT-8710 and it is great. I have the Panasonic e30 and e50 and it works like a dream.
It also has video controls that enable you to fix tint, color, sharpness, contrast and brightness, all in a device that fits in your shirt pocket. It bypasses all macrovision that I've tested it on.
One of my best purchases since buying the Panasonic recorders.
