  1. I have several Divx files with WMA V2 as its audio codec. Virtualdub and AVISynth does not recognize it. How do I make recognize the codec? The files plays fine on my PC so i have the right decoders installed.

  3. This is an old old proble. At least half the problems on this forum are issues people have with VirtualDub. To recap: VDub uses the older VFW drivers, while Win 2K/ Me / XP uses the newer WDM drivers for video. Ne'er the twain shall meet.
There is no way out of your dilemma. You will just have to use another tool than VDub. Try AviSynth, which has all the same filters as VDub and many more besides.
VDub is amarvellous tool but extremely problematic. It won't work with at least half the video cards out there, it won't work with firewire video capture devices _at all_, VDub won't open many video filetypes, and VDub won't capture with many different video input devices unless you run VDub under Win 98/95. Lastly, VDub typically won't save to DV or MPEG-2 format even if you have the codecs installed because they're usually WDM programs and not VFW programs.
Since ViretualDub is free and a great program, your best bet is to work around these kinds of problems by using another program like AViSynth in those cases where VDub gets problematic.

No encoding savvy person would make videos with such combinations of codecs-except experimentally. I see lot of such combinations being posted here with people asking for help. I could be wrong but I suspect they are deliberately created to prevent easy editing.
Download either the 7.1 or latest Windows media encoder from Microsoft and try again. My TMPGEnc was not accepting WMV9 files till I did that. Don't know whether that will help you.

  5. i got the same problem...
downloading this codec worked fine for me.

    http://www.divx-digest.com/software/divxcodec.html (nr.6 - DivX Audio Compressor)

Now virtualdubb is able to convert those AVIs with Windows Media Audio V2 into other audio formats... hope this works for you too
