  1. Is there a real difference between 2X and 4X media? Are they really the same media, with different labels? Are they the same but tested different?

Sorry if this is a repeat question. I'm new!

  2. While 1x and 2x media is pretty much the same (most 2x was simply 1x media certified by Pioneer as being 2x capable, thus allowing the DVD maker to add the 2x id code to it's disk), 4x media is made to be able to withstand the higher temperatures of 4x burning. So a 2x disk was REALLY a 1x disk that can burn at 2x, but 4x media is a different animal, at least for now.

  3. To add to what Barnabas said.

    For example, for Me:

I have a Pioneer 104 drive. I could use Ritek G03s (2x media) at 2x, or G04s (4x Media) at 2x. The G04s cost more, and give me much better results at 2x.

    I buy the G04s.
