  1. I'm trying to back up a DVD. I used DVD2AVI to creat a d2v file. I then loaded the d2v into VFAPI to create a dummy AVI file. The problem with this AVI file is that it uses the VFAPI codec which is WWAAAAYYY too slow. When encoding it with Canopus ProCoder, it encodes at 7-12 FPS. Is there a better way to get a dummy AVI into Canopus that will encode faster?

I've looked into AVISynth but got confused and I'm not sure what to do with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

well avisynth is the way to go, about 30% faster by all accounts. sorry.

Try looking at an encoder which supports MPEG-2 input (such as TMPGenc)

I've no idea, i don't ever need to use either program.

Did you have a look at using TMPGenc instead? is there a reason you're limited to Procoder?

dvd2svcd v 113 build 2 supports canopus procoder and uses avisynth as part of the encoding so all you do is input your file and encode away
