  1. How do you alter the volume off audio in?

I am capturing from video recorder via composite. From video recorder I have video out/audio out going to video in/audio in from advc-100. I can hear the sound via Scenalyzer but the sound is very low from source tape.

But if I have audio out going to soundcard in computer the sound is much better and I can alter the volume via volume control but when capturing video its recording the sound from the source tape and not line in.

So can canopus only record the sound from source tape and you can not alter the sound???. Scenalyzer has the volume input showing but this doesn't alter, not matter what I do.

I really don't want to have to capture the video and sound seperatley as one off the reasons I brought the canopus was for audio lock to video.

    Any help???

  2. I have a similar problem...
im a newbie to DV capturing. i wanted to get my analogue videos onto PC, like many others i researched and decided the ADVC-100 from cannopus would be the cheapest and most idiot proof solution for this.
im running a new athlon XP system with big hard drive + sh*t loads of RAM etc...raedon 9800pro graphix card, audigy 2 soundcard.
the only firewire port i have is on the audigy soundcard...when i run an s-video lead from my analogue camera into the s-video input on the ADVC-100, (or composite into s-video and sound in on the back) and then firewire from ADVC to the port on my soundcard..it can capture the video but no sound! ive played with all the volume controls etc in windows,, but no luck! im using MS movie maker to capture it...
I also tried running composite cables from a tape player, into the ADVC and then firewire to PC...i used SOundforge 6 to try and record some sound but there was none! sorry for the rambled message..but this is doing my head in...ive read here about XP compatability problems (im running XP home by the way) and also that other people have successfully captured through an audigy card...!? could it be because there is some sort of volume for the firewire port i cant find...or do you think my ADVC-100 is faulty!????
i tried connecitng my camera to the advc with composite cables too. i also ran rca leads from a tape player into the box's red + white inputs on the front...just to test....NO SOUND!

    id REALLY appreciate any help...thanks.
