  1. How am I able to add a border to my mpg's before encoding, so they screen shot isn't cropped when I view them?


    any help would be appreciated ..

    Which kind of soucre file do you have? What is the aspect ratio? Which tools would you like to use?

  3. Files are '.mpg'
    Asdpect ratio is 4:3

    The only program I am remotely familiar with is Tmpg Enc.

    Actually I wonder why do you want add borders to a 4:3 MPEG.
    You could crop top and buttom lines using "clip frame" at the advanced tab and add borders (add mask). But this makes no sense to me.

  5. You can get borders in TMPG without cropping - set the output size to whatever you want it to be, then under the Advanced tab, double click 'Clip Frame', click 'Arrange Setting', choose 'Center (Custom Size)', and enter settings slightly smaller than your output size.

    You can also do this right on the Advanced menu page, but doing it under 'Clip Frame' enables you to preview exactly what the output will look like.

    My mistake Truman, the film clips were shot in 4:3 aspect, but the mpgs are 16:9 format

    If you have a 4:3 source just select source aspect ratio 4:3, video arrange method "full screen(keep aspect ratio)"
    at TMPG's advanced tab. At the video tab set aspect ratio to 4:3.
    No crop, no resize, no nothing...
