Hello,
I've got some 50 unprinted Nashua DVD-R's. They played fine in my finlux dvd 510 but now that I blew up the damn thing and this fine player isn't for sale anymore (as far as I know of, that is) I bought a Finlux dvd 512.
My problem is that this player (also the dvd 513) do play my unlabeled discs very bad. The first, say, 10 minutes the image regulary stops for about 5 a 6 seconds and continues; this is quite irritating.
Dvd's which are printed and/or got labels on it are working perfectly!
Is there a change my unprinted DVD's will work when I label them with for instance the PressIt label kit and use ordinary white (non transparant) labels?
who has experience with this?

Well this is a strange one, I have seen many people complain that labelling their discs causes them to not play properly, but never the other way round.

I know this is a dumb question, but you never know?
Did you put the labels on AFTER burning or BEFORE?
I know normally everyone puts a label on after burning a disk, any type.
I did once see a person put labels on 5 cd's before burning though, so you never know. His computer was busy and the labels already printed, so to save time he went ahead and put them on first. I don't even know if they burned correctly afterwards though.
Nearly everyone that has problems say the disks DON"T work after putting the labels on. Some even said they tested a good disk and it was fine without a label, but a coaster after puttng the label on!
I dought the labels are the problem/solution though. Are they all the same type of disk, brand. Did you write them all the same way? With the same program?
Out of about 15 or so disks that work perfectly in my player, 3 of them would not work in my mothers when I visited her this summer. Gave me a disk error or no disk message. The rest of them worked great though. All the same brand out of the same spindle even, none with labels. Must have been the way I wrote those certian 3, something different about them. They still work fine in my player now that I am home, I tried them,
I have a Norcent DP300 and it plays about anything I stick in it
Hers was an Alergro VHS/DVD combo.
At that time I had burned all my disks with Nero.
SO I still don't know why 3 would not play but the rest would
All of mine were made from VHS captures, either original stuff or backups of tapes. So it might even have had someting to do with the settings when I captured them maybe. Maybe not DVD compliant files, but the Norcent said the heck with it play it anyway, but Alegro was being fussy about it ?? -
Hello,
no, I didn't put the labels on myself, they were original Verbatims with white labels. But also those Nashua DVD-R's with grey label and some text printed on them are playing fine.
The unprinted/unlabeled dvd-r's I got were burned without labels but because other discs with labels work fine I thought maybe if I put optional labels on them they will work fine also... I haven't labeled a disc yet, therefore my question here.
