  1. I have an hour long VCD video but I only want like 5 minutes of a segment. How do I edit the dat file on the VCD? thx for any info guys!

  2. You need to convert it back to a MPEG1 file. You can do this with either VCDGear or VCD Easy (under tools VCDxRip). Once you have the MPEG1 file you can edit as desired (eg. VDub).

  4. *.DAT file is already MPEG-compliant. You can use it directly in any cutting software. You open this DAT file like a regular MPEG file and cut. The easiest way would be using TMPGEnc (Look at this guide). You certainly can edit either DAT file or converted file with any editing software.
