Can't find firmware that will burn everything at 2x

I have a Pioneer A04/104 burner and just got some Verbatim -R discs that are the Ritek 1x kind, so I tried and tried to find a firmware that would burn them at 2x. Many claim to, but none of them seem to work. I tried one specifically for Ritek, tried one for All media, still 1x. I'm using DVD Decrypter to burn, if that makes a difference.

Can anyone point me to a firmware that actually does what it claims?

My understanding is that the firmware in the burner
decides what rate to use and the burning application
has very little to say about it.

my opinion, it takes three

- a disk that is better than its rated
- a firmware that has a writing strategy to burn 1xdisc at 2x
- a software that understand the situation and allows it

and you who set the speed MAX.

I use the 1.31 2x4all firmware from that forum on my 104 and it works perfectly on every media I've used.

Iam currently using ritek G03 1x and burning at 2x with the official pioneer 1.31, ritek media was pumped to 2x on this offical and dropped after that in 1.32. after using the 2x4all use stomp record now max, select 2x, do not select max speed, i have seen issues with sony dually buring wacko at 1-2x when max speed is selected and instead of selecting 4x, as well as quality issues with my a04 at max instead of selecting 2x. try that out and force 2x. should work out.
