I just used BeSweet for the first time and I converted my .wav file to .ac3. When I play the DVD back through my standalone the audio is very low. I made a 2nd DVD (RW) using the .wav file and the audio is normal. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

no, this seems to be fairly normal for .AC3 to be quieter than .WAV

The only thing to check is if your DVD player has Audio DRC turned on in the setup menu. if it is, turn it off.

It's designed to supress the audio to sound better on a TV, at a more constant level. in practice it doesn't seem to work very well, and is just annoying.

I don't see how people can say there is very little difference between the quality of AC3 and PCM. The audio I hear from AC3 is hollow, low, and almost empty compared to the uncompressed PCM.

If someone has figured a way to convert PCM to AC3 and still keep the same quality (treble, bass, volume). Let me know what the formula is. I just can't see going to AC3 from PCM.
