IS there such an animal as a DVD player that will play Real Media (.rm) and .AVI files. I have quite a few but can't seem to find a player that will take them.

No.
Some players will play certain DivX/XviD files, but the results are less than spectacular (B Frames and QPel issues). I'
m not aware of anything that plays RM files (despite the new ones being MPEG4)To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan
