  1. o.k well i never has this problem before.

i can open up the program and go through the wizard but once it suppose to start encoding i get an error message saying that there was an error and that my program is going to be closed. and then it closes.

the other intresting thing is that if i clilck on SOURCE RANGE (just to see if i get to see any of the movie images) the same error happens and the program closes again.

after this happened i thought that there might be a problem with the program itself so i tried to load other .avi files to see if they encode and it worked perfectly.

so i figured, well, there must be something wrong with that specific file then...so i loaded it unto DivxFix. Striped the index rebuild it, checked for errors ...the whole deal......

    but that DIDN'T WORK EITHER....

    this is getting really frustrating
    any ideas out there....
    (im using windows 2000, P4 1.4ghz, 600 Ram)
    thanks

I said I'll be done in a minute. I meant a Microsoft minute.

  4. Go to the environmental settings in TMPG and make sure the AVI2(OpenDML)File Reader has a priority of at least one. See if that helps.

  5. o.k i tried that but nothing happened...
here are my VFAPI settings in case this helps:
DIRECT SHOW MULITMEDIA FILE READER = 4

AVI2 (OPENDML) FILE READER = 0 (note: this is the one where i changed per your suggestion to +1 and even +2 and it still didn't work)

    BMP/PPM/TGA/JPG FILE READER = 0

    WAVE FILE READER = 0

    TMPGENC PROJECT FILE READER 2.56 = 0

AVI VFW COMPATABILITY READER = -2

    DVD2AVI PROJECT FILE READER 1.76 = -2

    thanks

  6. Try renaming your file with an ASF extension.

  7. O.K YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THIS BUT I SOLVED THE PROBLEM

I DIDN'T CHANGE ANY OF MY ORIGINAL SETTINGS
    I DIDN'T RUN DIVXFIX AGAIN....

    ALL I DID....WAS:

RENAME THE STUPID FILE EXTENSION FROM .AVI TO .ASF

I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT SOMETHING SO SMALL AND STUPID WAS THE CAUSE FOR THE WHOLE PROGRAM TO SHUT DOWN....UNBELIEVABLE...

NOW...DOES ANYONE HAVE AN EXPLENATION FOR THIS?
I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THIS WORKED JUST THAT ...IT DID....
IM CURIOUS TO KNOW IF ANYBODY HAS ANY THEORIES OUT THERE...

OH AND BY THE WAY....THE IDEA TO RENAME THE FILE CAME TO ME FROM ANOTHER POSTING THAT HAD NO REAL CONNECTION TO MY PROBLEM BUT SINCE I WAS DESPERATE....

ANYWAY...THANKS YOU GUYS FOR YOUR SUGGESTIONS...
AND AGAIN ...DOES ANYONE KNOW WHY THE NEW FILE EXTENTION MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE?
