  1. Hi All!

I have a Pioneer 106 -r dvd writer and have been using Datawrite x4 (the light blue ones, Datawrite x4 (the red ones) and also Bulkpaq x4 (orange).
I rip DVDs using DVD decrypter and write with DVD2ONE.
I play them on my standalone Toshiba SD-420E.

I keep experiencing a major problem with my rips though.

Alot of them seem to skip and jump towards the end of films.
Normally about 1 hr 20 minutes in. The DVD time readout will jump about 2 minutes. Once it starts happening, it seems to continue to the end of the film.

I have no idea why and as far as I know I am using decent discs and decent software.

I would very much appreciate any advice whatsoever if somebody could please help.
    Thank you lots.

    Comfy Gray

9 times out of 10 this means there are problems reading the disc. If you have DVDSpeed run it and see how well the disc in question read back on you DVDRom Drive or just try a better disc.

It will let you see if the computer is having any trouble reading the disc, if so likely the problem will be worse on your standalone player.

Also you might want to run the DVDinfo tool and see the real manufactuers of those disc, if any of them are Princo then likely that is your problem.

In my experience you need a cheep player to go along with the cheep media. That would be funny if it weren't true, but my Norcent will play the worst media in the world (Princo) while my Sony will only play good media (Ritek).

    Gurm says it best!!

Just look at how many other posts are on this same topic using similar discs.

I mean come on, is it really that bad to spend $50.00 for 25 Ritek04 discs? That's $2.00 a piece that's almost as cheap as VHS tape and the Ritek media has never failed me or any discs I have sold (not backups, all original creations)...I wanted to make sure so I took a DVD I made on a Ritek04 disc to Best Buy and just started putting it in DVD players and it worked in every one of them, from the cheap to the expensive players.

They did eventually ask me to stop but my disc did work.

yeah the Media you are using is not compatible with your dvd burner firmware, it will burn the movie, but at certain areas it will burn incorrectly. so Update your firmware from http://www.firmware-flash.com/ .

and remember the dust is also bad.

    check this out http://www.bealecorner.com/trv900/DVD/DVD-dust.html

dont worry alot of people have had this problem, i have also had it but when i upgraded my firmware its all good now using the same media it works perfect from start to end.

if this does not work then simply buy a different brand of media such as Ritek or TDK

This is your problem ... just a gurm says.

Dump these and use some Riteks. They cost more to begin with, but will be cheaper in the long run ...... and you wont have those pretty red and orange coasters to dipose of

  10. If you use DVD2ONE probably you burn DVD-R with CopyToDVD.
I've used this software for more time, but with new release of CopyToDVD and Nero 6 my Movies freeze at the end, specialy if try to jump from a chapter to another.
I've resolved this problem using RecordNow MAX or DX (MAX from Stomp, DX from Sonic). Now my ripped movies are perfect on PC and standalone player!

Sorry for my English, i'm Italian.
