Memorex MVD-2027

I saw a new DVD player at my local Wal-Mart, the Memorex MVD-2027. It's a new player, and it's very cheap... it plays MP3s, but will it play svcds correctly? Does anyone has more info on this player?

I have one ... and have been very happy with it. Yes, it plays SVCDs even though it doesn't advertise it. It will even play XSVCDs, higher resolution and bitrate. Have had no trouble at all with CD-RW although it wouldn't play my TDK CD-R. It did play my Memorex CD-R (I was going to be really mad if a Memorex DVD player wouldn't take a Memorex CD-R!!)

I have been able to find no information or reviews on the web for it ... not even the Memorex web site.

DVD playback looks great to me ... but then I'm not really sure how to compare it to other DVD players without having hooked them up to my TV / audio system. I am just using RCA jacks on a 25" TV.

I quickly burned some MP3s just as a test and the interface isn't very fancy but it plays them and sounds great.

Also the remote isn't much to brag about but I wasn't concerned with that.

For the price and abundance of features, I think its great. You might want to research some of the Apex models. They have a great feature list as well and are cheap. I ultimately didn't get one because I have read of some people having them go dead or die after a month. Took a gamble on the MVD-2027 and so far has paid off.
