  1. I just got my Pioneer 106 last week on Wednesday, paid $206, now they lowered the price to $170. Despite my efforts, they don't offer a price guarantee. I wouldn't care so much if it was only a few dollars or if several weeks had passed, but I mean $36 dollars just a few days later, that's ridiculous.

At any rate the 106 drive rocks, I've used both Ritek and BeAll 4X disks in them, burned full capacity in 14:22. Fantastic piece of hardware.

  4. Since you invited everyone.

You could have picked up the NEC dual format 4x for $155.

I'm hoping my 104 breaks so I can justify an new burner.

  10. Many major chain retailers, i.e. Best But, Circuit City, CompUSA, offer 15-30 day price protection. I would have hoped major online shops offer the same.

That would raise the costs of their products then. You do know that "price protection" policies aren't free right? The stores calculate that when they price their products. So you are actually paying for it everytime you purchase a product from them.

  12. TigerDirect.com just had a DVD+RW on special for $99. If you always wait and second guess something newer and better will come and while you are waiting for the price to drop on that, something newer and better will come and.....etc. I've got a $500 computer that kicks ass. Do I want more cheaper? Sure, but to keep in perspective, I remember the $800 Commodore Amiga I bought in the 1980's or the $1000 Timex Sinclair a friend bought before that. The DVD/RW's a couple of years ago were more than I paid for my whole system. Just be happy that cool stuff is coming out and we non-rich can afford it sooner and sooner.......Just be happy and enjoy!!!

Last week, I purchased a Lite-On 48161H combo drive at Newegg for $56.99. This week, that same drive is $57.99. An increase of $1.00. I am starting to feel guilty. Should I send them back the buck?
