    Which version should I use???

    Stomp Record Now Max 4.50

(Which actually says Veritas when you open the program but it is stored in a Stomp folder within windows.)

    or

Veritas Record Now Max DX 4.60 + pxengine 408 ???

I have been using the first one with no problems burning DVDs.
But according to something I read the second is a better piece of software.

    Please advise.

    Cheers

  2. I'm a firm believer in "if it ain't broke - dont fix it!" but if you feel compelled as to update your software and live on the wild side, I'd go ahead and update!

Some RecordNow Max users who can address your concerns will post their reponses soon enough. One thing I dislike about R-Max is that it tells you it'll burn at one speed, but ends up burning at another. That always got me. Happened a lot on my old A04

  3. pxEngine update is for all RecordNow, BackupMyPC, etc products that work based on the px burning engine.

Both Max and DX do pretty much the same, DX has a little bit more options but I don't think it really counts. In some rare cases it could make a difference.

The px Engine update is important for both.

Yes the pxengine update is important but according to the website........

    http://support.sonic.com/downloads/engine.asp

It is only for Record now Max/DX 4.6.
Earlier versions require a different update.
I read this quote in the readme to my 4.6DX version.

"Here is the Upgrade to Record Now Max 4.5 , seems some newbs were installing the px engine 408 to the wrong product (Record Now Max 4.5) here is the newest latest greatest Record Now Max Deluxe.
Supports all Pioneer Models, Sony and More, just about all the new DVD Burners supported in this new version!"

  5. Let's make it clear

There were earlier versions such as
RecordNow 3.xx, 4.xx and you could update them to version 3.yy, 4.yy.
But they still are based on pxEngine so that update provides fixes and comatibility with new burners and media(types) for all of them.

For example after installing that update I was able to use DVDR(W) media with BackupMyPC, instead of CD-R(W) media.

You need to find out whether Max or DX suit your needs

    I know a guy who couldn't burn @4x(withMAX) with a Sony dual,
switching to DX solved his problem.

  7. Fozzee, what exactly you want to know.

If you have RecordNow Max or DX or BackupMyPC or any other software based on px mastering Engine, you can make it "smarter" so they are gonna recognize more medias and more burners.

Stomp and Veritas are two different comppanies that sell the same RecordNow products under different names.

If there's a version came out after that pxupdate of course its up-to-date
    I just saw DX 4.61

I thought it was quite clear but i'll try again.

"According to sources on the net the PXENGINE408 UPDATE is for Record Now Max/DX 4.6 NOT 4.5.
Earlier versions e.g. 4.5 require an earlier pxengine update."

My question to you was "do you disagree with these statements"

From what you went on to say I believe you do.

Sorry my fault I think I can see the confusion.
I assumed that when I went on to say the pxengine update is for 4.6 you would realise I meant the PXENGINE408 one.

    Why thankyou.

I had already clicked "Check For updates" and it said I was up to date!!

    I am now downloading 4.61 at 2.5kb/s (I'm on 1mb Cable)

Do I have to run the pxengine after?? Or is it unnecessary with this version??

  14. Since this one is the latest version I'm pretty sure it works well.

However if you experiece anything bad (speed, media incompatibility), try the px update
I don't think it takes anything away.
If that wouldn't work you can always uninstall-install the software again.

  15. Can someone tell me when/how to get the PXengine update for RecordNow (v4.5) that recognizes the Pioneer A07? (I didn't see
it supported on the sonic site).

Does it now come from Sonic or is there another souce?

What is the lag time between a burner's release and the update?

    Thanks
    Will

  16. But to my question does 507 support the new Pioneer a07/107?

    Thanks
    Will

  17. Well that in encouraging (mine came with the Nero suite) - I will
try it and hope that Sonic is simply slow in updating their 'supported
    hardware' page.

Does anyone know if Recordnow DX works with the LG GSA-4040B burner? (I know Recordnow Max doesn't recognize the unit).

  21. I did it by clicking Help - Product Updates but I believe Sonic has removed it by now (they want you to buy their product)

    4.60 is a Veritas product
    4.61 is Sonic's

thats a bunch of bull .... the update works for all versions of sonic , prassi and stomp versions ... the same update was on primera web site for thier duplicators which came with prassi duplication software ..

but as mentioned .. sonic wants you all to buy thier incredibly crappy new recordnow software they came out with ... effectivly killing off recordnow forever ..

That post was ages ago. Before the update to Sonics 4.61. It was only a pxengine update and it was free!!
You can update now for FREE on their website you get Record Now Max 6.7 which is a perfectly good piece of software.
I use Record Now Deluxe 6.5 and it works just as well as earlier versions and is less bloated.
So your comment is incorrect about them making you buy their software.
    The updates are FREE!!
