  1. Hello All

Is it possible to transcode a to large MPEG2-file (forex. 5.5 Gb, DVD-compatible) to a smaller one (forex. 4.1 GB, DVD-compatible) ?
    What SW do I use?

The transcode-SW I have seen are only working on TS-files and not direct on MPEG2-files?????

(I am not interested in cutting the large MPEG2-file, not convert it to TS-files and only interested in the MPEG2-solution)

TMPGEnc will re-encode it for you. All you need to do is set the bitrate correctly. You should be able to find a bitrate calculator on this site.

  3. Thanks but....

    Transcoding goes quite quickly.
Re-encoding with TMPG-encoder, does that take along time (hours?)

  4. Why don't you author it with ifoedit. Then you could use dvdshrink, xcopy, etc. Pull the files back out with vobedit. These xtra steps probably would add 1/2 hour to the transcode time.

Rempeg will transcode an mpeg. It is probably slower than doing a reencode with TMPGEnc.

  5. You can transcode with DVDShrink. Use the newest version.

It will take an mpeg file as input? If I read this right, that's what sahu has.
