  1. Hardware:

    Pentium 3 1.33ghz
    512MB RAM
    40GB HD
Pioneer 106 IDE inside external USB 2.0 enclosure (connected to USB 2.0 port on my laptop)

    Problem:

I'm able to duplicated DVDs with DVD Xcopy Xpress all day using DVD-R media purchased from meritline. It is LEADDATA01 branded media. According to information/reviews on this media the pioneer 106 shoudl have no problems writing on these discs.

However, when i use Nero 6 to burn 3.5 GB worth of data to the same type of media, i get the message "Invalid block address" and "could not perform end of Disc-at-once".

This occurs at the end of the write session.

    I also tested a DVD-RW @ 2.4x and it writes succesfully. I'm totally confused.

    any ideas?

I had similar problems with Memorex media it would not burn on DVD X Copy express and also with Princo.

It appears that DVD burning is sensitive to the media. The burner being used in your case the pioneer and the program being used

I would suggest that you try different media and find one that suits the program and software that you are using.

TDK media burn well on my sony DRU 500

I think you mistunderstood my initial post and what my problem actually is. DVDXcopy xpress works FINE with the LEADDATA media (branded DupEZ), but Nero fails. So the same media works consistently with one program (DVD Xcopy Xpress) but fails with another (Nero).

  4. Try using RecordNow Max in place of Nero.
