  1. Hope I'm in the right forum

What I'm asking is my Sony Player has a Text position when I cycle through movie and chapter time left, time played 5th selection is Text.

It displays text from the DVD on some of the commercial movies. So what I'm asking is there an easy way to put that on the DVDs I create?

I looked in the guides, hopefully I didn't miss it.

    Thanks in Advance

  2. I think what that is, is the DVD label. Take one of he commercial DVD's you have and see if the namje that pops up in the TEXT option is the same one that shows up next to the drive letter in Windows Explorer. If it is, then just add a label to your burned DVD.

  3. I thought about that but by default Nero puts a label of New on the disk. Unless the player ignores that by default it should show the Text of New.

I guess I'll have to put 5 of em in the changer and play until I find one and see how it is different. If it is a simple file/dir on the disk that's fine and example would be the Jacket_P, But if it is added by the authoring program then I guess I'm outa luck.

    Thanks

  4. DVD Text is in the VIDEO_TS.IFO file. If it's on the disc.

There is no guide. I have been playing with this. I can tell you how to put the text in the ifo, however, give me some more info 1st (for the best method).

    - Did you author the dvd? If so, what program? Some will do it for you.
    - Are you willing to use a hexeditor?

I've done over 50 of these with Jacket_Ps for my new Sony changer. I mean added DVD-Text to already authored DVDs. Quite easy once you get used to it.

  5. I usually Author with TMPGenc DVD Author (Quick & Easy) or Ulead DVDMF2.

Wow been a while since I used a hex editor (Dos days)

I was afraid it was not as simple as creating a file on the DVD.

    Thanks

  6. I created a "quick" guide.

    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=175537&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=

I don't use TMPGEnc Author, so I'm not sure what the IFOs look like. Simple ones created in IFOEdit are real fast. Others are a bit more effort.

By the way, I'm no expert. I learned a bit and it seems to work fine in my Sony. Done quite a few with no problems.

If you give it a try, I'll update the guide with your feedback. I'll also put a full simple example, and some Technical info/links, when I get a chance.

  7. Ok, Thanks

I'll give it a whirl when I get home from work and am on a broadband connection.

    Thanks again
