I purchased the DMR-E80H and I have copied one VHS home movie to DVD-R. It seems when I play it on another player the picture looks too light. Is there a setting to correct this?

Yes. Set the input to "Darker" to create recordings that adhere to the proper black level for NTSC video in the U.S.A.

When set to lighter the recorder dubs the source exactly as it is displayed. Maybe it's just my cheap television but isn't your recording supposed to match the source you're recording from? When I eventually burn it onto a dvdr it looks darker anyway.
