  3. well it is simple and honest way to ask- I have probably spend couple of hours on this site to find way to convert my DV video to DVD. Currently I am using Pinnacle studio 8 but it is toooooo slow to convert video. This was the reason I was asking for the BEST..........

I saw ifoedit and other programe but looks like there is no such guide which makes life easy. you have to use pices and make dvd i guess......-B

  4. TMPGEnc has been a testwinner in many independent tests in terms of quality etc. I always encode with that software, and when it comes to authoring there are a multitude of options. You might choose an advanced software such as Scenarist or Maestro, or simpler softwares if desired. It sounds like you are converting home movies, so an advanced authoring system would not be required for you (with support for different angles, 32 subtitles etc.)

Concerning your slow encoding process, it's all a matter of your system specs, 1 hr of video (DV -> DVD) takes about 2.5 hrs for me to encode on a P4 2.4 GHz w/ 512 mb RAM. So if your're running a PIII or an Athlon below 1 Ghz, it will be slow and that's just the way it is.

You need to specify your criteria. Best in terms of speed, ease of use, cost, output quality? Are you looking for an all in one software package? What kind of hardware are you using? What type of video are you capturing, VHS, DV, cable? What kind of results/output are you looking for?

The fastest and easiest may not give the highest quality. The best quality may be very expensive and be very complicated.

You might want to ask what would be good for a beginner, although I think Pinnacle Studio might be a good starting point.

BTW, your system specs (833 MHz) mean that it will take quite a bit of time, like chazzie indicated.

  6. If you need best, then you need to spend a lot of money and you need to learn a lot of different sofware. As they said. You need to specify what do you need. Are you looking for best editing software ? For easiest editing software with most futures ? For fastest mpeg-2 encoder ? For cheapest software ? For authoring software that takes AC-3 sound ? For authoring software that allows you to create your own menus and ling program titles as you wish ? For program that does all off that at some level ?
