  1. Yesterday, after performing a sucessful "test" burn with DVDit! 2.5 I tried playing a dvd movie I had just purchased. Windows didnt perform its usual autorun so i went into "MY COMPUTER" to double click on the dvd drive but it was GONE. So was my CD drive as well!

In CONTROL PANEL > DEVICE MANAGER there is a big yellow " ! " next to my cd drive and DVD-RW drive and when I go into properties it says

"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

Oh by the way I have an ASUS CD-S400/A CD drive and a PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-104 DVD drive.

I also tried uninstalling the drives and then reinstalling it via plug abd play but for some reason this problem comes up again.

I use KAZAA alot so could it have been a virus? WOuld DVDit! be the cause of this problem? I did a few GOOGLE searches for new drivers (i think i downloaded one file that was "firmware" - not really sure what firmware is but it didnt seem to work for me either.

If someone could please help me with this problem I would greatyl appreciate it. Otherwise I guess Ill just have to take my computer into the shop and spend $$ fixing it

  2. Uninstall DVDiT and your drive should magically re-appear. Mine vanished when I installed DVDit. Might need a reboot after uninstall.
Same thing happened to a friend's drive when he installed the prog.

I don't know why that happens.
