  1. hey guys...and gals So here s the deal.... i m pretty new to the whole "backup" process of DVD's but have so far been pretty successful....until yesterday.... i ve backed up a few movies using DVDShrink and then using nero 6 in dvd mode to burn the files to disc for playback in my dvd player... then i tried Count of Monte Cristo.....BOOOOOOOO. I ve wreck 3 dvd+r's trying to back it up and don t know what s wrong..... after i shrink it with about level6-7, everything is fine and i can play it back using powerdvd...so i burn it in nero...everything is successful. But then powerdvd won t playback the movie off the new disc, nor will my dvd player play it.....it says the disk is damaged and should be cleaned or something...the drive is clean the discs are new...what am i doing wrong?? thanks for any help given....

  2. First of all, get some DVD+RW discs to use for tests if something starts to go wrong.

Regarding your problem, I'm 99.9% certain the problem is located in NERO when burning. Try to select "DVD/UDF" and "Force DVD Video compability" and it might work better. I did that and it soloved some of my problems.

What manufacturer of DVD 's are you using, it sounds as if the problem could be DVD's that don't like video. I had a similar problem with gladiator, until i changed to another brand of DVD, and the problem disappeared. I also write to RW's when i have a problem with DVD writes i use to determine where the problem may lie as well

  5. Try to use RecordNow Max to burn your files WITHOUT creating the AUDIO_TS folder!

Since I'm doing this, all of my stand alone DVD players can read the discs without any problems.

In my wild guess, I think if we put the AUDIO_TS folder in, it makes it hard for the stand-alone DVD player to track the VIDEO_TS folder, resulting the player keep hunting for the right folder. After awhile, it quits searching and tells you something like: no disc or the dics is dirty e.t.c...

But discs burnt with both folders can be easily read with DVD-Rom drives. I think they make them have better DVD-Recordable reading capability!

Just for the record, all the DVDs made by my Panasonic stand-alone DMR-E30 are without AUDIO_TS folder. And they play perfectly fine.
