I'm trying to cut down several movies to fit on one or 2 700MB CD's. I followed the directions for doing that here but started but started with an AVI. Aside from TMPGEnc not being accurate about the final file size, not matter what video & audio bitrate I choose the final file size is always the same! Not sure if this is in some or all movies. What am I doing wrong? I am using Ver 2.5. Or is it the MPG file?![]()

If you're using VBR it might be that the bitrate never reaches above a certain bitrate...
For example:
VBR max @ 3000 kbit sec.
During encoding, the biggest segment requires only 2500 kbit/sec
Changing the VBR to 2700 kbit sec will not alter the final size of the file, because it's never or rarely used. Changing it to 2400 will affect the final size. This is probably not so. Are you certain you clicked "OK" and not "Cancel"? (Stupid question, I know, but it might be an error one does due to a too speedy process) -
Thanks for the reply.
I'm using CBR set to 900. If I set it very low (even, say, 400) the final size stays the same. Very frustrating! Any more thoughts?
