effect? I'm looking to turn a logo (Probably the Indiana University IU logo) into an effect I can use as a transition. Sort of like when you are watching a sporting event and the CBS logo flashes on the screen when going from a scene to a replay scene. Can someone direct me? Thanks.

  2. Ulead VideoStudio or Pinnacle Studio will do it but they cost $100.
    Free 30 day trial though.

I have Ulead 7. Anyway I can talk you into telling me how to do that? I've got the image imported that I need. Do I just put that at the halfway mark between the two videos I want to transition as an overlay? Thanks.

  4. You can do it two ways:
1.split the video at desired point and insert logo(transition).
2.use Overlay, which I recommend because it looks more professional and you can vary the transparency and move the logo anywhere on screen.

I can move the logo up and down or across the screen. Can I do anything else to it, like make it fly in at an angle, or make it explode, maybe with a glow added or something like that? I've tried to use Cool 3D to do something like that, but you can only import images that are .uez files. Thanks again for your help. Many minds working together makes things much easier on the trial and error person like myself!

MovieGeek, thanks for your help. I got what I was after. I need to do some work on the audio portion, how to keep it playing when the transition effect starts, and I need to work on the transparency of the transition, just a little experiementation and I should be good. Here is the clip...http://portfolio.iu.edu/cbburnet/agagagagag.wmv It's 1.4MB.

Nice work. He's from the Big Ten guys! Anyway, you may also try to make an image of the last frame of the first scene, and the first frame of the next scene. Make the these images as long as it takes to complete your transition.

E.g., your transition lasts for three seconds, so make each frame I mentioned last for three seconds. Join the frames and transition all together, and someone watching the video will see your stop, wait momentaruily for your transition, and the video will resume. Just a thought.
    Hello.

I think I see what you are saying. What I could do is cut the video so that none of the actual play that I want to be seen is overlapped by the transition. Plus, I've only started working on this today, and I need to experiement with time and things of that sort.
I wonder how I can get my audio to keep going when the transition/overlay effect starts?
And why, oh why must I have to work. I could sit here all day doing this!

  9. DVD-Lab can take images/menus and make transitions out of them. Might also want to look at Windows Movie Maker 2 a well as Ulead VideoStudio.
