Question 1: I want to rip a cartoon (a goofy movie) which last 72min or so. Would it be possible to get it with great quality on one cd? As I have downloaded Sword in the Stone (76min) as a very good looking SVCD.
Question2: What is better when encoding the above, vcd with higher bitrate, or svcd with lower bitrate?
Question3: Is it possible how to find out what settings have been used in the encoding of a downloaded movie? In this case Sword in the Stone.

if your movie is under 80 minutes you can make a standard vcd and it will burn fine onto an 80 minute cd... that will be good quality too if your playin it on a tv.

well, i have some cartoons like simpsons and futurama in vcd format, and they look bad when played on tv. Svcd's look almost like dvd quality compared.

those cartoons were coming from a capture as a source... you said you were ripping... i think you will be suprised at the quality of a dvd ==> vcd rip... i know i was... i was basing vcds from seeing divx ==> vcd conversion... and those looked like ass. but i was impressed with the dvd rips... maybe your just pickier than me though
