  1. I'm using the following tools:
    1. DVDDecrypter
    2. DVD2AVI
    3. BeSweet GUI
    4. TMPGEnc
    5. Ulead MovieFactory 2

I succussfully converted a PAL DVD to NTSC DVD but the audio is only 2 channel stereo. How do I preserve the Dolby Digital audio?

During the mux'ing process, I imported the m2v file into TMPGEnc but when I tried to import the converted .ac3 file TMPGEnc displayed an error message informing me that the file type was not supported (or something to that effect). I got around that problem by using BeSweet and converting the PAL ac3 file to a NTSC mpg file (rather than PAL ac3 to NTSC ac3 file). I'm pretty sure this is where I "lost" the Dolby Digital audio.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

There are two main approaches to converting PAL to NTSC. One method is to convert the frame rate to 23.976fps from 25fps and that requires a change in the audio. The other method does not require an audio change.

If you do the method that requires an audio change then simply run the original AC-3 through BeSweet and the BeSweet GUI using the built-in PAL (25fps) to NTSC (23.976fps) pre-set option.

You can go straight from AC-3 to AC-3 this way preserving your audio. If you have 5.1 AC-3 you can go straight to 5.1 AC-3 if you have 2.0 AC-3 then you go to 2.0 AC-3 but you can't go from 2.0 AC-3 to 5.1 AC-3 but that makes sense right?

Just make sure you use the BETA versions of BeSweet and the BeSweet GUI
