  1. i dont understand what can be doing this. the only media i have ever used has been tdk (i get a great bulk price, i usually get them 50 at a time for 25 bucks...friggin awesome eh?) anyway, mine ONLY skip at the very end, AND it doesnt always do it. i found out the dust thing the hard wasy one day when i looked at the disc...sure enough there was a little dot where the spec was removed. so that doesnt happen anymore. BUT the skipping still continues. i just dont get it. it doesnt skip in my comp and skips a little less on a piece of S dvd player...a symphonic something or other but skips none the less.
i dont think it can be something with the discs really, unless this many discs are just messed up...also, if it were the discs, everyone recommends tdk and thats all i have ever used and it does it for me too, so that would kind of rule that out. anyway...if someone comes up with a definite reason pm me i might not get the new thread.

  2. I have a 106, too. The crappy media that came with it did exactly what you describe. I bought some Fujifilm 2.4x, and it never happened again. I am now using memorex 4x, which work beautifully with the 106. So, If I were you, I'd try memorex, fuji, or ritek media. I know it seems like it won't make a difference, but BELIEVE me, it will.

I've had mixed experiences with Princo media - if you get a good one batch they can be fine; otherwise you can get jerky, pixelated playback.

You could try splashing out on a couple of Pioneer DVD-Rs just to prove it's not the media.

I was having same problem with pauses etc I tried several retail, demos and freeware all had same results until i found a program called Gear DVD Standard from Gear Soft. And boom all problems gone also all other programs wouldnt allow me to erase my DVDRW but gear dvd did....well worth a try good luck.
